Day 1
HUE – DMZ – PHONG NHA NATIONAL PARK

Around 6:00am we depart from Hue headed to Phong Nha (210 km - 4-hour drive). On the way we will visit the Basilica of our Lady of La Vang, a catholic church originally built in the forest near Quang Tri, close to the DMZ. Many buildings in La Vang were destroyed and rebuilt during the war between North and South Vietnam.
In the afternoon, we will take a boat trip, gliding across the blue-green waters of the Son River to survey Phong Nha Cave. Of the 300 caves and grottos in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, only 20 have been examined. Phong Nha in particular, is one of the most stunning caves with several records: highest and widest cave entrance, most beautiful sand beaches and reefs, widest and most beautiful dry cave, most splendid stalactite system, and the longest river within a cave. You will be able to walk on the sandy beach inside the cave and continue admiring the natural sculptures. We get on the boat again to return to the wharf.
Overnight at the hotel in Phong Nha.

Day 2
THIEN DUONG CAVE – HUE (B)

This morning, we head to Paradise Cave (or Dong Thien Duong), in the Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park, UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. Discovered by local man; Ho Khanh in 2005, Paradise Cave is a 31.4km long cave, but only the first kilometre has been opened to tourists (since 2010). You will have the chance to see one of the largest and most impressive accessible caves in the area. After climbing the 524 steps, you will be welcomed generously by cool breezes blowing from the small open door of the cave. After lunch, transfer back to Hue by car.

OVERVIEW
Phong Nha’s landscape comprises limestone plateaus and tropical forests. It features great geological diversity and offers spectacular phenomena, along with a large number of caves and subterranean rivers. This area has a high level of biodiversity and many endemic species. The extension ensures a more coherent ecosystem while providing additional protection to the catchment areas that are of vital importance to the integrity of limestone landscapes.
